Graduation Service at Nepal Evangelical Seminary
In 2009, a memorable graduation ceremony was held at Nepal Evangelical Seminary (NES) in Hetauda, marking a significant milestone in the journey of theological education in Nepal. Among the honored guests were Babu Varghese, founder and director of the seminary, and Dr. Bill Pfoff, a longtime friend and mentor to the ministry. The occasion brought together graduates, faculty, and local church leaders in a joyful celebration of learning, faith, and future service.
The graduates, dressed in traditional academic robes, stood proudly as they received their certificates in theology. Each one represented a step forward in the mission to equip church leaders for ministry in Nepal’s rural villages and growing cities. The presence of Dr. Pfoff underscored the global partnership and encouragement that has strengthened NES since its founding. His words of exhortation and wisdom offered a powerful reminder of the seminary’s purpose: to raise up biblically grounded leaders for the growing church in Nepal.
Babu Varghese spoke with heartfelt gratitude for the students, faculty, and partners who had made the journey possible. His leadership has shaped NES into a trusted center for theological education in southern Nepal, providing vital training to those who might never have the opportunity to study in Kathmandu or abroad. That 2009 graduation ceremony served not only as a moment of achievement for the students but also as a testimony to God’s faithfulness through the partnership of local and international believers.
The photo from that day—featuring Babu and Dr. Pfoff side by side—remains a powerful symbol of what can be accomplished when vision, faith, and friendship come together in service of the gospel.
